A thought-provoking, gritty diversion from the typical comic-book movie.
I really enjoyed the style of storytelling of this film, and I had no problem getting into the characters despite having never read the novel.
It was long but I never felt bored or as if anything should have been cut. In all honesty, with all the talk of the "blue man-parts" on Dr. Manhatten, I hardly even noticed. I also thought Billy Crudup was great in that role. There is the typical Zack Snyder overly long explicit sex scene, but hey maybe that was in the comics...? Overall this was a great Saturday-night watch for me. Great ending, too. Make you wonder, what would you do?

3 hours of looking at a blue twinky?
Fun plot but way to drawn out. I wouldn't waste my time watching it in the theaters but I would add it to my netflix queue just because i like the soundtrack.

Faithful to the book, for good and for ill
Kudos to director Snyder for staying faithful to the graphic novel. The fight sequences were great, the casting was excellent (especially Rorshach and Blake), and the visuals were well-done.
Unfortunately, faithfulness to the book also means gory violence and way too much nudity (especially blue glowing Dr. Manhattan nudity). Beyond that, I kept feeling that someone who hadn't read the book would get very confused. Also, the similarities to 300 seem to indicate that Zack Snyder hasn't learned his lesson; both movies have uncomfortable sex scenes, and both have great visuals and action sequences that are hampered by over-the-top gore.
